We have a large group of bucket drummers this year, so we have divided up into Grade 7 and Grade 8 with some of our alumni from last year (and previous years!) helping us out. Drummers engage in various rhythm exercises and then are divided into 3 separate parts: soprano, alto and bass. As we progress through the year, we practice more complicated rhythms with interlacing patterns and sections. We practice every Tuesday after school! Students also have the opportunity of trying some of the other percussion ensemble instruments in the classroom (i.e. Congas, bongos, marimba, wood blocks, etc.) The goal is to have fun playing interesting pieces while also developing our musical abilities. Halloween at Vanier
<p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr" style="text-align: start;"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Dear Parents and Guardians,</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr" style="text-align: start;"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">We’re excited to celebrate </span><b><strong class="editor-text-bold" style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Halloween at Vanier on Friday, October 31st!</strong></b><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;"> Below are the details for the day’s events:</span></p><ul class="editor-list-ul"><li value="1" class="editor-listitem" style="text-align: start;"><b><strong class="editor-text-bold" style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Costumes:</strong></b><br><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Students are encouraged to come dressed in their Halloween costumes or in orange and black to show their school spirit. Please note that masks and weapons are not permitted as part of costumes.</span></li><li value="2" class="editor-listitem" style="text-align: start;"><b><strong class="editor-text-bold" style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Bake Sale at Lunch:</strong></b><br><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Our student council will be hosting a Halloween Bake Sale at lunch. All proceeds will go directly toward supporting Vanier’s arts programs.</span></li><li value="3" class="editor-listitem" style="text-align: start;"><b><strong class="editor-text-bold" style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Afternoon Activities (Periods 5 & 6):</strong></b><br><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Students will have the option to attend either the Halloween Dance or the Games Room.</span></li><li value="4" class="editor-listitem editor-nested-listitem" style="text-align: start;"><ul class="editor-list-ul"><li value="1" class="editor-listitem"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">The Dance will feature a live DJ, a photo booth ($2 per photo), and a variety of fun activities throughout the afternoon.</span></li><li value="2" class="editor-listitem"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Students are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item or a $2 donation to enter the dance.</span></li><li value="3" class="editor-listitem"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">The Games Room will offer a quieter space for students who prefer a more relaxed atmosphere.</span></li></ul></li><li value="4" class="editor-listitem" style="text-align: start;"><b><strong class="editor-text-bold" style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Milkshake Sales:</strong></b><br><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Milkshakes will be available for purchase, and pre-orders are now open on School Day.</span></li></ul><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr" style="text-align: start;"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">We look forward to a fun and festive day celebrating together! About Our School
Welcome to Module Vanier! Our school offers two bilingual streams to learn French. We provide an Extended French program for students in Grade 7 or 8 who have only had core French since Grade 4. French Immersion programming is offered to students who have attended previous Immersion programs from Kindergarten onward. Both streams offer English language instruction in health, science and literacy. All other subjects are taught in French.

Excluding today and a handful of other days, we have enjoyed a beautiful and relatively warm fall. Since the start of the school year, it has been wonderful to see the momentum of learning and the wide variety of extracurricular activities taking place across Limestone schools. As we head into November next week, I want to share a few updates with you:</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr"><b><strong class="editor-text-bold" style="white-space: pre-wrap;">See Yourself in Limestone – Student Census Survey</strong></b></p><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Information was shared with families earlier this week regarding the upcoming See Yourself in Limestone Student Census. The census is a voluntary and confidential survey for students in Grades 4 to 12. </span><i><em class="editor-text-italic" style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Please note, there was one error in the message shared with you regarding the dates of the Student Census. The correct dates are November 24 to 28, 2025.</em></i></p><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">As a reminder, families who do not want their student(s) to complete the survey must contact their school Principal by Friday, November 14, 2025. School buses function differently than other vehicles, and sometimes, although it is safe for the average family vehicle to travel, it is not safe for a school bus to be on the road. Due to the geographic size of our district, weather conditions can vary significantly from one region to another. As a result, there are times when transportation cancellations may only apply to specific areas experiencing adverse conditions, while other regions remain unaffected. Having to cancel school transportation is understandably disruptive to families, but Tri-Board always puts the safety of their 30,000-plus bus riders first and foremost in their decision-making. That is why we are launching our second </span><i><em class="editor-text-italic" style="white-space: pre-wrap;">See Yourself in Limestone Student Census Survey</em></i><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;"> this November.</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">The Student Census is a voluntary survey for students in Grades 4 to 12. It gathers information about students’ identities and their experiences at school. This data is then paired with academic information to help us understand what school is like for different groups of students.</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">It is important to note that:</span></p><ul class="editor-list-ul"><li value="1" class="editor-listitem"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">The survey is </span><b><strong class="editor-text-bold" style="white-space: pre-wrap;">optional</strong></b><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">.</span></li><li value="2" class="editor-listitem"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Responses are </span><b><strong class="editor-text-bold" style="white-space: pre-wrap;">confidential</strong></b><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">.</span></li><li value="3" class="editor-listitem"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Students </span><b><strong class="editor-text-bold" style="white-space: pre-wrap;">can choose to answer as much or as little of the survey as they wish</strong></b><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">.</span></li></ul><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">The goal is to identify ways schools can better support students and ensure everyone has what they need to succeed. The insights we gain will help Limestone break down barriers and improve school experiences for all students.</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">The census will be available from </span><b><strong class="editor-text-bold" style="white-space: pre-wrap;">November 24 to 28, 2025</strong></b><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">, and students will complete it during class time</span><b><strong class="editor-text-bold" style="white-space: pre-wrap;">.
