Vanier Clubs

Student Council is an opportunity for Vanier students to become involved in the Vanier School Community! We help to plan events such as spirit weeks, dances, fundraisers and other various school events. 

Dragon Drummers is an extracurricular bucket drumming group inspired by “Stomp” and other non-traditional music forms.  We have a large group of bucket drummers this year, so we have divided up into Grade 7 and Grade 8 with some of our alumni from last year (and previous years!) helping us out.  Drummers engage in various rhythm exercises and then are divided into 3 separate parts: soprano, alto and bass.  As we progress through the year, we practice more complicated rhythms with interlacing patterns and sections.  We practice every Tuesday after school!  Come out and support us at our live performances!

A relaxed and welcoming school club to work on personal writing or poetry pieces. Students may choose to write their own creative pieces or write about a weekly picture prompt. 

Unleash your imagination and roll the dice! Once a week, Vanier students come together for an exciting adventure in the world of Dungeons & Dragons and a variety of board games. Whether you're a seasoned player or brand new to the table, there's a place for everyone. Students build friendships, strategize, and have fun in a welcoming and creative environment. Let the games begin!

Do you have a talent for design or a knack for computers? Put your skills to work and help create something amazing. Use your creativity to help design a yearbook that captures the spirit of our school and becomes a keepsake for years to come. It's your chance to be part of something special!

Lego Robotics is an exciting opportunity for students interested in STEM, coding, Lego, or any combination of the three - no experience necessary! Students on the Lego Robotics team build their collaboration, inquiry, coding, and engineering design skills in various challenges over the fall and winter months. To cap off the season, team members get to show what they've learned by competing in the Limestone Skills Competition!

Join our theatre and collection of performance artists through various shows once per year. Students will operate lights, tech, stage manage, and of course, perform. Come join the fun on stage!

Vanier band is an extracurricular concert band open to both Grade 7 and 8 students looking to develop their musicianship and challenge themselves with more challenging pieces.  We meet every Monday after school.  Students also have the opportunity of trying some of the other percussion ensemble instruments in the classroom (i.e. Congas, bongos, marimba, wood blocks, etc.)  The goal is to have fun playing interesting pieces while also developing our musical abilities.  Come join us for a practice!

Art club meets every Thursday at lunch to explore new forms of art or expand on the techniques and tools we are using in class.  Projects range from linoprinting to sewing!  Students are welcome to use the space to catch up and finish current projects OR explore their own creativity through different mediums.  We will be having an end of year art sale to raise funds for our arts programming.
